Revolutionise your
PLANNING
Chapter 6 of 12
Learn how to...
...map out the journey to your DREAM DESTINATION.

DREAM to
DESTINATION
Welcome to the process.
This section (chapters 6-12) is for those of us who have a DREAM and want to find a way to make it a reality. If you are yet to really plan your DREAM future then nice of you to join us but you may wish to check out the DREAM Building section (chapters 1-5) first as without a DREAM this might not make much sense. If you have completed the first 5 chapters and are still not too sure on what it is you want from life that's ok. Hopefully things are starting to take shape and the next few chapters will be invaluable so stick with us.
ā
Ok so buckle in because this is where things get exciting. After all, building a DREAM is nice but planning on how it can become a reality in our own lives is next level excitement. This is where things get real. And it all starts with a rough plan.

Seeing our future
ā
We can all learn to DREAM big DREAMS but if we cannot envisage ourselves ever fulfilling them then we quickly lose hope. And lacking hope is a DREAM-suffocater, which is no use to any of us. So we need to learn how to map out an initial sketch – a rough plan – a ‘how-to’ - to make our DREAMS a reality. Sure it will take us more than a rough plan to get there. The rest of this entire section on DESTINATION Landing (chapters 6-12) is dedicated to helping your DREAMS become your DESTINATIONS in life but it all needs to start with a belief that we can actually make it. And belief grows when we can see a way there.
The road is wide
Intrigued to find out more? Ok so go with us on this one.
ā
Just for a moment imagine that you are stood on the edge of this lake in the picture below. Your DREAM destination is the village at the other side of the lake. In this village lies the finest of all lives. The best food, the greatest people, the most exciting technology, the coolest fashion, perfect future partners, everything you could ever want. Arriving there really is your DREAM future. So you don’t lack motivation but you do need to find a way of doing it.
ā
How would you do it? No seriously, what would you do? Think about it for a moment then come join us down below.

Have you had a think? We’ll hold for another moment if you need to. We’re in no rush…Got an answer? Ok, cool.
ā
Crossing the lake
ā
Have an answer figured out then? So what did you go for? Here’s some of our options:
SWIM
You get that one too? Yeah. Looks kind of far and so we’d probably need a lot of physical training. Therefore it would take some time, but with the right amount of athleticism we’re confident it could be done.
DRIVE
Hey, hey. Don’t accuse us of cheating now. We said that the village is at the other side of the lake. We never said that you couldn’t drive around the lake to get there. Granted it would take some time, perhaps even a day. And you would need access to a car and that would take money but it’s an option.

FLY
Flying would be the coolest option right? Obviously as humans we can’t fly unaided but we could get a helicopter to take us or a small plane or invent a jet pack that would get us there. We’d need money to be able to do this so we may have to get a summer job to save up but then with money it becomes an option, sure.
OTHER
There are many more options. Hire or buy a boat, cycle on our bikes perhaps, take a tent with us and hike it out. I mean it might take weeks or even longer to walk around the lake but it would be a blast. Motorcycles, campervans, jet skis…the list is not endless but it’s extensive enough.
The options are many, the destination is one
Your DREAM future probably has numerous entry points to it, much like the village at the other side of the lake. This section is not about meticulously planning each and every single thing you must do to fulfil your DREAMS. No that would be too daunting and not allow for enough flexibility as we’re just getting going here. Planning is good, essential even, but currently we’re just sketching. Our aim is to simply make our DREAMS appear achievable. All of them. Even the big outlandish, crazy ones. Those ones especially in fact. And here’s how we do it…
ā
The 3-step DREAM-DESTINATION breakdown grid
Our 3-step approach to sketching is simple. We define the WHAT, consider a HOW and then look at the PROCESS.
WHAT: Here we break down our DREAM future into specifics and clearly state what we want to achieve.
ā
HOW: Here we define how we would achieve the DREAM. It may be subjective but that is ok.
ā
PROCESS: Here we document the potential pathway or some of the processes that we will likely need to go through.
Still confused? It’s ok. You’ll get where we are coming from once we put it into practice.
ā
Take Kurt here.
ā
Part of his DREAM future is to be an awesome husband and to own a Ferrari (as well as some kind of family car too).
ā
So let’s now analyse his 3-step approach and see if we agree that it could land his DREAM future for him.

What?
Be an awesome husband.
How?
Be faithful, earn enough money to provide for my family,
be kind, loving and patient.
Process?
As a teenager practise respecting my mum and treating her well.
Only ever date one woman at a time.
Get a good education and job.
Practise generosity with my friends and family by helping them with odd jobs that need doing, e.g. painting and decorating.
Give money to charity to practise being kind and sponsor friends who do marathons.
Now you may disagree with Kurt’s definition of what defines an awesome husband. That’s ok. This list is subjective and personal to him. But you can clearly see he has a DREAM and he has thought about the HOW and the PROCESS he will need to undertake.
ā
His other DREAM if you remember, is to own a Ferrari (as well as another family car). So let’s see what he came up with as a rough sketch of a plan.
What?
Own a Ferrari (as well as a family car).
How?
Earn enough money to buy two cars and be able to maintain them.
Process?
Work hard to get qualifications at college.
Get a good degree.
Complete a post-graduate course.
Learn to save money from a young age by putting aside 15% of my part-time job money in a savings account.
Start saving for a car from a young age.
Save some of my student loan when at university and add it to my grandma’s inheritance money, to buy a property to rent out to others.
Does it work? We think so. I mean there are so many ways of getting to that DREAM destination that this is one of many, but it works. He has clearly defined his DREAM, broken it down into small segments and then taken it through the 3-step approach. We wish him well for the future.
ā
Now over to you…
ā
Pick out your top few DREAMs and have a go at putting them into our Future decided 3 step DREAM-DESTINATION breakdown grid (you may need more than one). It can be found on page 20 of your workbook (link to download below). Just make sure you definitely 100% include any BIG crazy ones. We don’t want you shying away from them for sure. Have fun and we’ll see you at the other side.
ā
Have a think...
1. Do you think that your DREAMS are often very achievable or unachievable?
ā
2. Are you a natural planner and process-driven person for longer-term goals or do you live day-to-day?
ā
3. How does sketching out a potential map to achieve your DREAMS change the way you feel about them?

Another chapter complete.
One step closer to your DREAM future secured.
ā
Don't forget to complete your workbook* as you go
and we'll see you in the next section soon.
